36 weeks 1 day

I haven't posted in so long, but it feels like it's been a day. Time is flying lately. I have a lot to update on so I'll probably do a few posts this week.

The first thing I want to update on is how having gestational diabetes is going. It's hard. I hate it. I am constantly craving ice cream, milk and anything with sugar. I can't eat any of that. My fasting numbers are still high so my bedtime insulin gets increased every week. I am now having non stress tests and bio physical profiles done every week, twice a week. I am also seeing my regular OB, an endocrinologist and a maternal fetal medicine dr. I will be induced at 39 weeks, which is July 3rd. TWENTY DAYS from now. Having a lot of monitoring and drs appointments, plus still working, is making time go by so so fast. My last day of work is June 28. I wish it was tomorrow, but there really isn't any reason for me not to be working, so I'm just stopping the Friday before my Wednesday induction. I'll have Sat-Tues to get things done around the house and rest a little bit.

I'm really nervous about being induced. I want to try a med free birth, but I've heard pitocin is horrible so I'm  really hoping I can handle it. If anyone has had a med free birth and has any tips for me, I would love to hear them.

Here are a few pictures of things that have been happening around here. I'll do separate posts this week on maternity pictures, my showers and the completely finished nursery.

  3. oh goodness you are almost there. Don't stress about being induced. I had pitocin and although I did have my epidural before it all it did was speed up the process which is good because first labours are already normally SO long.

    p.s. You look lovely Momma!

  4. That sucks about the sugar cravings- 20 more days and you can indulge!!! Inductions aren't so bad. I got the epidural and had a great birth. I'm not sure I will ever go med-free but with pitocin it gets pretty intense. It would be hard to do it since you are hooked up to the IV and can't move around too much. It can be done though :)

  5. You're so close now! I'm sorry to hear you have so much craziness going on. I'm glad that it's going fast for you though through all of that. I cannot believe you are just 20 days away from meeting your sweet baby! You look beautiful : ) We just got that snuga monkey bouncer at our shower, so cute!

    So excited for you, Bridgett!

  6. Fasting numbers are my downfall and I've already started insulin after only a week of the diet. I've also realized that with the diet I'm not eating as much as I should so I have ketones in the morning too. I start my twice weekly NSTs (with BPP one of the days) in just about three weeks.

You look great though and are doing a great job! You're getting close and soon it will be behind you :)
