Nursery

The nursery is pretty much finished. I need to hang his name above the crib, get a pillow for the chair, hang up a picture, and get a ruler growth chart. Those are all little things though and I already have the pillow and growth chart picked out, I just need to get them from the boutique uptown and my sister is making his name letters. Ooo and I want to get a couple big baskets, one for toys and one for books. And I need a hamper and a different trashcan. So maybe I need more than I thought. O well, it's still basically done. I'll do more pictures when it really is finished...but will it ever reallllly be finished? Doubt it.

30 weeks 2 days

THIRTY WEEKS!! Holy moly!! I can not believe I am 30 weeks already! Time is flying.

I'm going to do a quick update and then I'll do more detailed posts next week. I have a final Monday so as soon as I'm done with school my life will be a lot less busy.

1. I failed my glucose test, which I already posted about, but my blood sugar is still really high in the mornings. I check my sugar four times a day. Once before breakfast and then two hours after every meal. All of my numbers are really good after my meals, so that means I'm controlling it well with diet. My fasting number before breakfast is not being controlled by food though, just my annoying body. So since there is nothing I can do about that number I am going to start injecting myself with insulin at bedtime. GREAAAAAAAT! Four finger pokes a day and one shot at night. I meet with the nurse Monday morning to go over everything. I am not excited.

2. My maternity pictures are tomorrow evening!! I have our outfits all set out and a couple props I want to use. I can not wait! It's supposed to be a beautiful day for it too.

3. I scheduled an elective 3d/4d ultrasound for tomorrow morning. I can not wait to see little boy in great detail! We are getting a dvd and cd so I will for sure post some pictures ASAP.

4. My first shower is next Saturday! I have already gotten a couple gifts from people that can not make it so I'll do a post on those next week.

4. Shana at sHe sent me and baby boy the most amazing package this week, all the way from Canada! She is an amazing blogger and person. If you don't follow her, you definitely should!!

How amazing is the stuff she sent?!! We are so so blessed!! Thanks again Shana and Norah!!

I got a call from my Dr. We are going to discuss diabetic education and management at my next appointment which is the 25th. I have a lot of questions for her and will also be requesting (demanding) a growth ultrasound. At my 25 week appointment my fundal measurement had me at 27 weeks. At my 27 week appointment I was measuring 31. I am concerned about this now that I know I have gestational diabetes.

Baby shower invites went out on Saturday and a lot of people have been telling me they got them this week!! I got mine in the mail yesterday. I am in love with them! My sister did a great job picking them out. She ordered a pdf from etsy and then had them printed at Staples.

The nursery is still coming along. I hung up the curtains the other day. I went with navy blackout curtains so it's very dark. They are pretty wrinkled, but I'm hoping they straighten out hanging up. They are hand wash, line dry only, so I don't think I can iron them. We have shelves that need hung up and my sister is making the name letters for over the crib, but the nursery is pretty much done. I have a lot of organizing to do, but I feel pretty good about how it's coming along.

Happy 28 weeks to me!!

Well, I failed my three hour test. :(

I haven't heard from the Dr yet, so I'm not really sure what happens now. I'm very frustrated, overwhelmed and stressed.

I just wanted to do a quick update.

I have my three hour glucose test tomorrow. I have my first finger prick at 7:50am and then I drink the fun drink and will have my blood tested after 30 min and then another 30 min and then every hour, for a total of 3 hours. I have been eating this special diet that they gave me, saturday, sunday and today. It's a lot of carbs and sugar and a little protein. I'm ready for it to be over. I'm not expecting to pass.

I had an appt last Thursday when I was 27 weeks. I was measuring 31 weeks. Yikes! Hopefully after I get my blood sugar under control things will even out. I'm really hoping I don't have a giant baby growing in there.

My inlaws bought us our glider. It's actually the Poang chair from IKEA. The frame is medium brown and then cushion is the Robust off-white leather. They bought us the matching foot stool too. I love it! It fits my body perfectly. I've been sitting in it so much.

My sister sent out my baby shower invites on Saturday! I'm so excited for it! I ordered my shower dresses and maternity picture clothes and they were delivered last week. Everything is coming so fast!

I think that's about all I have to update on. I will update with my glucose results as soon as I know if I passed. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

Newborn Cloth Diapers

My newborn cloth stash is almost complete. I am still waiting on three velcro Alvas (one black and two royal blue), but I prepped all of the ones I have so far and organized them so I thought I would share pictures.

We are using 20 THX brand all in ones with snaps. These are exactly like Lil Joey's. They are supposed to fit 4-12 lbs and have an umbilical cord snap. I looooove these. They are so so cute and very soft and have double gussets.

We are also using 20 Alva velcro pockets with charcoal bamboo inserts. I also bought enough bamboo blend inserts to use with the charcoal in case he is a heavy wetter and we need to double. Most people say these don't start fitting until 10 lbs, but Alva started putting 4 rise snaps instead of 3 and I have several with the 4 rise snaps so I think those will start fitting before 10 lbs.
